Privacy Policy

The short version: Happy Couple is built so that we can't see your budget. Your financial data is created and kept in a spreadsheet inside your own Google Drive. We don't operate a server that stores it, we don't sell it, and we don't show ads.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Happy Couple mobile app ("Happy Couple", "the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

Happy Couple is an independent app that helps two people manage a shared budget. For the purposes of data-protection law, the developer of Happy Couple is the data controller for the limited account information described below. You can reach us using the details in the Contact section.

2. Information we handle

Google account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account — your name, email address, and profile identifier. This is used to sign you in, label who entered what in a shared budget, and connect your partner to the right budget.

Your budget data

The financial information you enter — incomes, expenses, savings amounts, category names, and similar figures — is written into a Google Sheet that the app creates in your Google Drive. This is your data in your Drive. It is not transmitted to or stored on any server operated by us.

Partner information

If you invite a partner (or join a partner's budget), the app records each partner's name and email inside the shared budget sheet so the app knows who is who. You can remove a partner from the budget at any time from within the app.

Purchase information

If you buy a Premium subscription, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing and managed through our payments provider, RevenueCat. We receive a purchase receipt/identifier and an app-specific identifier tied to your budget so the app knows your subscription is active. We do not receive or store your card or bank details — Google Play handles payment.

Camera

The app can use your device camera for one purpose only: to scan the QR code that pairs you with your partner's budget. Camera images are processed on your device to read the code and are not stored or sent anywhere by the app.

Technical & diagnostic data

The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Google Play and RevenueCat may collect standard technical and diagnostic information (such as app version, device type, and crash data) in accordance with their own privacy policies, to deliver the app and process subscriptions.

3. Where your data lives

Your budget is stored in Google Sheets and Google Drive under your own Google account. The app uses Google's restricted drive.file access, which means it can only see and manage the specific budget file it created for you — it cannot access any other file in your Google Drive.

Because there is no Happy Couple server holding your budget, your data's availability, backup, and security also depend on Google. Please review Google's Privacy Policy.

4. How we use information

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

5. Sharing with your partner

A shared budget is, by nature, shared. When you invite a partner, your budget spreadsheet is shared with their Google account through Google Drive, and they can read and edit the budget. When you accept an invitation to a partner's budget, they share theirs with you in the same way. Only the people you invite are given access.

Leaving a budget removes your details from that budget's member information within the app. The owner of a budget controls the underlying Google Sheet and its Drive sharing.

7. Retention & deletion

Your budget data is retained for as long as the spreadsheet exists in your Google Drive — because you own it, you decide how long to keep it. To delete your budget data, delete the budget spreadsheet from your Google Drive. To stop the app from accessing your Google account, remove its access from your Google Account settings (see below). Subscription records held by Google Play and RevenueCat are retained according to their own policies and applicable law.

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Because your budget lives in your Google Drive, you can already access, edit, and export it directly at any time.

9. Children

Happy Couple is intended for adults managing a household budget. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Security

Sign-in and data access use Google's authentication and are protected in transit by encryption. Because your budget is stored in your own Google account, its security is also governed by the protections on your Google account — we recommend enabling two-step verification. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be communicated in the app or store listing. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
