Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Happy Couple mobile app ("Happy Couple", "the app", "we", "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The service
Happy Couple is a tool that helps two people track a shared budget. It creates and updates a budget spreadsheet in your Google Drive and provides features to record incomes, expenses, savings, and settlements, and to share a budget with a partner. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
2. Your account
You need a Google account to use the app, and you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live). You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for all activity that happens through it in the app. Sign-in and authentication are provided by Google and subject to Google's terms.
3. Google & your data
Your budget is stored in your own Google Drive, not on our servers. Availability, backups, and security of the underlying file therefore also depend on Google. We are not responsible for loss of data, downtime, or other issues caused by Google services, your Google account, or your device. You are responsible for keeping your own backups if you wish. How we handle the limited information we do process is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Shared budgets
A budget can be shared between two people. When you invite a partner, you grant them access to read and edit that budget, and you are responsible for who you invite. The person who creates a budget owns the underlying Google Sheet and controls its sharing. Removing or leaving a budget changes access within the app but does not, by itself, delete data the owner keeps in their Drive.
5. Subscriptions & billing
Happy Couple offers a free tier and an optional paid "Premium" subscription that unlocks additional features, such as access to your full history and more spending categories.
- Payment. Subscriptions are sold through Google Play and charged to your Google Play account.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancelling. You can cancel anytime in the Subscriptions section of the Google Play Store. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play in accordance with Google Play's refund policies and applicable law.
- Price changes. If we change the subscription price, we will follow Google Play's process for notifying you, and changes apply to future billing periods.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app — for example, by attempting to break, reverse-engineer, or interfere with it, using it to violate any law, or accessing budgets you have not been invited to. You are responsible for the information you enter.
7. Intellectual property
The app, its name, logo, design, and software are owned by the developer of Happy Couple and are protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you. The budget content you create remains yours.
8. Disclaimers
Happy Couple is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including any statutory consumer rights you may have.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by removing its access to your Google account and, if you wish, deleting your budget spreadsheet. We may suspend or discontinue the app, in whole or in part, at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the developer of Happy Couple is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
